About Hilary

Two years ago I had it all going on.

I was on a full academic ride at my local university. I’d grown up in a production family so I spent my time after school on sets with celebrities and posing for Italian fashion magazines. I called the entertainment capital of the world home, all the while looking forward to my very bright and clear future.

 

I graduated with my BA in Psychology in 2010 with so many accomplishments, I was named The Outstanding Graduate of my class.

 

If there was a fantasy football league for graduate school candidates, I was a first draft pick. I was bright-eyed and bushy tailed, ready to join the doctoral program of my choosing and continue to school the crap out of school.

But you’d think after growing up in Vegas, I’d know the odds are never in my favor.

I was rejected. Hardcore. From ever doctoral program I applied to (fail). Suddenly my future was blurry, my confidence shaken, and my anxiety high. I had no idea how to be successful without more letters behind my name.

Now, I spend my time living with locales, searching for unique opportunities and once-in-a-lifetime adventures. I’ve been volcano boarding with a pro-surfing legend, lived in a prestigious Fijian village, and  working ridiculous and random jobs to pay for my travels. You can find me moonlighting as a disco ninja and Muppeteer Assistant in Las Vegas, and consulting for The Lion Habitat Ranch. I share all of my experiences, highlights, failures, and insecurities on this site.
